Lucas Museum of Narrative Art
Opening in September, 2026, the new Lucas Museum of Narrative Art celebrates the power of visual storytelling through a diverse collection of artwork spanning illustration, painting, comic art, photography and filmmaking. Founded by George Lucas and Mellody Hobson, the 300,000-sf (27,870-sm) museum anchors a transformed 11-acre campus of public green space in Los Angeles’ Exposition Park. Designed by Ma Yansong of MAD Architects, with LERA as structural engineer, the project utilized a performance-based seismic design approach featuring 281 base isolators that enhance the building’s resilience to major seismic events. The museum contains two cinematic theaters, a research library, education and event spaces, dining, retail and a rooftop garden. The grounds also feature hanging gardens and a curved pedestrian bridge.
