Capitol Crossing a Key Piece in Transformation of Downtown D.C.

Capitol Crossing is a major new development in Downtown Washington, D.C. Located in the city's Central Business District, the 7-acre, 2.2 million-sf mixed-use development will contain four office buildings and one residential structure with ground floor retail, underground parking and a 150-unit residential building, and will totally transform the area through the creation of three new city blocks. LERA is the structural engineer for the 1.2 million-sf multi-level podium -- built over the active I-395 highway -- that will support the new development. LERA is also providing structural engineering services for some of the buildings. The architect is SOM.

Recently, Capitol Crossing was featured in the "State of Downtown 2018," an economic development report produced by the DowntownDC Business Improvement District. The report presents data and analysis on several economic sectors in downtown Washington, D.C.
