Two of LERA's Partners Featured in Women's Issue of CTBUH Journal

SawTeen See, Managing Partner and Winnie Kwan, Partner were both featured in CTBUH Journal's new "Special Issue: Women in the Tall Building Industry." The LERA-designed Lotte World Tower was highlighted, as well as two articles from Ms. See and Ms. Kwan:


Ms. See co-authored a paper titled, "Frontiers in High-Rise Outrigger Design," which highlights and discusses contemporary outrigger technology.


Ms. Kwan published an essay on the importance of freehand drawing diagrams as part of ASPECT: RATIOS, a new series that showcases the exemplary work done by women in the tall building field.

Structural Design Challenges of Merdeka PNB118, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Session 3E: Structural Engineering

When: 1:45 PM - 3:15 PM, October 30th, 2017

Technical advancements continue to push the boundaries of structural engineering, allowing for taller, skinnier and more resilient high-rises. This session explores some of the most recent advances in structural engineering, including viscous wall dampers and the challenging design of Merdeka PNB118 in Kuala Lumpur. It will conclude with a discussion of structural resiliency, and whether it is a sustainable practice.

SawTeen See has been the Managing Partner of Leslie E. Robertson Associates since 1991. A pioneer in the structural design of high-rise buildings, Ms. See has led the design of the 555-m Lotte World Tower in Seoul, South Korea, recently named the fifth tallest building in the world; the 492-m Shanghai World Financial Center in Shanghai, China; and the 630-m Merdeka PNB118 Tower now under construction in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Some of her current projects are the Minmetals Headquarters in Shenzhen, China; the Suzhou landscaped bridges in Suzhou, China; and the new Temple University Library in Philadelphia, PA.
