Novartis Radiation Oncology

Research Office Building

LERA was the structural engineer for this 5-story, 185,000-sf (17,187-sm) office building that utilizes a post-tensioned concrete structural system to achieve long spans of up to 72 ft (22 m). Several 2-story vertical penetrations, called “community parks,” provide flexible connections for research teams working on different floors of the building, and the absence of perimeter columns leads to remarkable exterior views. The building houses 440 associates in a collaborative laboratory and workplace environment, with additional rooftop gardens that serve as extensions for meetings, collaboration and discussions.
