Marriott International Hotel &

Vietnam National Convention Center

LERA led the structural design of a 600,000-sf (55,700-sm), 9-story waterfront hotel and convention center, boasting a 5-star rating, 500 rooms and an attached parking garage. Taking inspiration from the fantastical dragon, a symbol of Vietnam’s rich heritage, the complex design uses steel truss systems, combined with reinforced concrete, to achieve cantilevers of up to 131 ft (40 m). Each floor cantilevers farther than the one below it, leading to the top floor jutting out 26 ft (8 m) from the base.
