In addition to providing the structural design for the new 830,000-sf (77,110-sm), 21-story Kimmel Pavilion on the NYU Langone Health campus, LERA designed the mat foundation with mini-caissons that supports “SPOT,” a new larger-than-life sculpture by artist Donald Lipski located outside the entrance to the Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital. The 38-ft-tall piece features a Dalmatian balancing an authentic, life-sized NYC taxi on its nose, whose headlights flash at night.
