She joined the firm in 1978, was promoted to partner in 1986 and has been the Managing Partner since 1991. N.C.E.E. Civil Engineer - California, Washington Honors and Awards SawTeen See was awarded the distinction of Fellow by the New York Academy of Sciences (NYAS) in September 2005. One of the highest honors bestowed by the NYAS, Fellows are nominated from within the organization's worldwide membership by Academy peers. This year, twelve individuals were selected out of 23,000 possible candidates. SawTeen was the sole engineer among the 2005 honorees. In 2004, she was elected to the grade of Honorary Member of ASCE for her innovative contributions to the field of structural engineering through the design of many of the world's signature buildings and for her leadership as Managing Partner of one of the premier structural engineering firms in the world. Listed in Who's Who in the World and Who's Who in America, Ms. See was cited by Engineering News-Record as one of "Those Who Made Marks in the Construction Industry" in 1988 for her work on the San Jose Convention Center. She received the New York Association of Consulting Engineers' Award For Dedicated Service, 1993. She received a Special Achievement Award from Professional Women in Construction in 2002. Ms. See was Partner-in-Charge for the expansion of the Baltimore Convention Center. Under her guidance, an innovative three-chord truss system was designed to create the 180-ft. by 600-ft. column-free exhibit space for the convention hall. The $160-million project received the 1998 Diamond Award for Engineering Excellence from the New York Association of Consulting Engineers and the 1998 Grand Award from the American Consulting Engineers Council. Professional Activities Ms. See is an Honorary Member and Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers and served on the Board of Directors of the New York Association of Consulting Engineers from 1989-1993. She was Chairman of the Committee on Gravity Loads and Temperature Effects of the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat. Following the 11 September attacks, she was a team member of the FEMA/ASCE WTC Building Performance Study.
