National Constitution Center

Philadelphia, PA

Established to promote greater public understanding of the United States Constitution, the National Constitution Center is a structure of complex geometries articulated in limestone, granite and glass. Henry Cobb’s sophisticated architectural design relies on an elaborate frame of interconnected steel systems designed to achieve the building’s bold structural form. The structural engineering achievement centered on designing long span solutions and special connection details and construction methods to accommodate the building’s vast, open spaces.
