Columbia University, East Campus Master Plan

New York, NY

This project consists of a pre-schematic program, design study and cost estimate for renovations, alterations and new construction of the East Campus facilities. Elements of the master plan examined the potential for phased renovation of the campus complex, and reuse of a five story podium. The first implemented phase included the fitout of the lower levels of the building to house the University's Language Resource Center and Institute for Social and Economic Research and Policy (ISERP). The project created 21,000sf (2,000sm) of classroom, student labs, and media production facilities to a portion of the building that had been vacant for nearly three decades.
