This project consists of the addition of inspection and maintenance platforms under the lower level deck of the Henry Hudson Bridge for inspection of the bridges' expansion joints. Access to the platforms will be provided by ladders down through the main towers of the bridge. The project also includes the design of a CMU electrical room enclosure in the bridges' North Abutment to proved protection for the electrical transformers which service the bridge and buildings that manage the tolls and day-to-day operations of the facility. This fire-rated enclosure will allow the Client to utilize the previously unused 4,000-sf (370-sm) of space in the North Abutment for storage of maintenance equipment and the like.
